Chanticleer Regiment
The Chanticleer Regiment is the marching band of Coastal Carolina University and is the most visible student organization on the CCU campus. The ensemble performs at all CCU home football games, selected away games, and for invited exhibition performances.
Consisting of woodwind, brass, color guard, percussion, and featured twirlers; the Chanticleer Regiment strives to produce entertaining performances that blend traditional collegiate marching band and innovative programming, to reach a wide variety of audiences.
Membership is open to all students regardless of academic major. A required pre-season camp is held each year in August one week before the fall semester begins. The ensemble meets during the fall semester and rehearses three times a week (M,W,F 5:30-7:30 p.m.). The ensemble is offered for academic credit and a performance stipend is available for participation.
Auditions will be held at the end of each spring semester for percussionists (both marching battery and front ensemble) and color guard on CCU’s campus. For all other sections (winds and twirlers), a video audition is required at the end of the spring semester.
Chanticleer Pep Band
The Chanticleer Basketball Pep Band is 30-member auditioned ensemble selected from the Chanticleer Regiment and throughout the university. The Chanticleer Basketball Pep Band performs at all men’s and women’s basketball games, the Sun Belt conference basketball tournament, NCAA basketball tournament, and selected athletic events throughout the spring semester. The ensemble is comprised of woodwind, brass and a rhythm section.
Auditions are held each year at the end of the fall semester. The ensemble is offered for academic credit and a performance stipend is available for participation.
Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the premiere wind band of Coastal Carolina University. With a purpose of enhancing individual and ensemble musicianship skills, the ensemble performs a wide variety of repertoire including chamber music, transcriptions, standard wind band literature, and contemporary music.
The Wind Ensemble is comprised of wind and percussion students within the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, as well as throughout the CCU and HGTC campuses. Membership is open to all majors, selected by an audition held at the beginning of each semester. The Wind Ensemble meets during the fall and spring semesters (T,Th 3:35-5:30 p.m.).
